Fill dirt delivery

Fill dirt delivered by our own dump trucks

Tell us what the dirt is for. Raising a low yard, building a house pad and filling a washout by the driveway can each call for something a little different. We go over the options with you, then our own dump trucks bring it.

Fill dirt, clean fill or millings

People use these words loosely, so it helps to say what the material is going to do. Here's how we think about it.

MaterialWhat it's usually for
Fill dirtRaising low spots, filling holes and washouts, building up a yard
Clean fillPlaces where roots, trash or debris in the dirt would cause trouble later, such as under a pad. Ask your builder if there's a spec.
Asphalt millingsA firm surface for driveways, parking areas and dirt roads. See asphalt millings.

How much to order

We'll ask what area you're filling and roughly how deep. For a house pad or a lot that has to come up to a certain height, your builder or engineer may already have a number in cubic yards. Start with that.

Fill settles and compacts once it's spread and rolled, so the finished ground ends up lower than the loose pile. Keep that in mind if you're working the numbers yourself. If you're not sure, call and talk it over before you order.

Delivery day

Show us where you want the pile. Loaded dump trucks are heavy, and they need firm ground to back in on. Keep them off sprinkler lines, thin concrete and the culvert under the swale if it can't take the weight. Watch for overhead wires and low branches too, since the dump body goes up high when it tips.

From there it's your call. We can drop the dirt and leave, or our crew can spread and grade it with the track loader and dozer. That second option is covered on the grading and leveling page.

Before you raise the ground

Bringing a lot up with fill changes where the rain goes. Raise your side of a property line and the water may head for the neighbor's yard. If the fill is for a new house, or the lot is in a flood zone, ask your builder or engineer how high it needs to go before you order.

Keep fill off the roots of trees you want to keep. Piling dirt over an oak's roots can kill it slowly. When you're ready, call (321) 638-4636 or request a quote.

Questions people ask

Can you spread it too?

Yes. We can dump it where you want it, or spread and grade it with our machines. See grading and leveling.

How do I know what kind of fill I need?

Start with what it's for. If a builder or engineer is involved, they may have a spec, so hand it to us. If it's a yard project, tell us what you're doing and we'll go over the options.

How soon can you deliver?

It depends on the material and how busy the trucks are that week. Call and ask. Our office is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
