What millings are good for
A sand driveway turns soft in the dry season and rutted in the wet one. Millings fix most of that. They're a common pick for long driveways out on acreage, parking spots for a trailer or a boat, a turnaround by a barn, or a dirt road that keeps washing out.
They aren't a paved driveway. Millings go down loose and look like coarse black gravel. Traffic packs them tighter over time. They also aren't pad fill and don't belong under a slab.

How we lay a millings driveway
Most of a good millings driveway is the ground under it.
- Grade the base first, so the finished drive sheds water off to the side instead of down the middle.
- Fill the soft spots and low spots before any millings go down.
- Deliver the millings in our own dump trucks.
- Spread them with the track loader to an even depth.
- Roll them with our roller compactor to tighten the surface.
Decide these before delivery
Measure the driveway, or at least pace it off. Then think about these.
- How wide and how long it should be
- Where it meets the road. That last stretch may sit in the county or city right-of-way, so check whether it needs their OK.
- Whether there's a culvert at the road and what shape it's in
- Just a delivery that you spread yourself, or the full driveway laid by our crew
Keeping it in shape
Potholes and soft spots can show up where water sits or trucks turn. A few shovels of millings, tamped down, handles small ones. After a few years a drive may want a fresh layer and another pass with the roller. Call (321) 638-4636 or request a quote for new millings, a delivery or a re-grade.

Questions people ask
Are millings the same as asphalt?
They're made from asphalt, but they don't come out like a paved drive. Millings are ground-up road surface that's spread loose and packed down, so the surface stays a little rough.
Can you just drop off millings?
Yes. Our dump trucks deliver them and you can spread them yourself. Or we spread, grade and roll them for you.
How much will I need?
Measure the driveway, length and width, and tell us when you call. We'll work out how much to bring from that and from how the base looks.
Do millings work on a sandy lot?
They work better on a graded base. On loose sand we'll want to grade it and fill the soft spots first, so the millings don't sink in unevenly.
